Client attempting to enter the United States charged with False Use of a Passport, Impersonation, Immigration Document Fraud, and Aggravated Identity Theft. The ID Theft charge carried a two-year mandatory minimum. After relentless negotiations, which included important information about client’s background, Government finally agreed to dismiss two of the charges, including the ID Theft charge. Then, after a powerful argument at the sentencing hearing, client was sentenced to TIME SERVED. He was immediately released and then later granted asylum.
